Norwegian Prison System
The prison system in Norway is famously known the very good treatment to hardened criminals. The principle that they take is punish the crimes and then rehabilitate the offender. The maximum time that you can face in prison in Norway is 21 years. The picture on the right shows a picture of Bastoy Prison. In order to get to the prison visitors are ferried to the island on small ship that is manned by the prisoners themselves. There are no walls, no crowded cells, and no armed guards. Prison officials believe that this is the best way to change an inmate because it gives them a place to reflect and interact and learn new skills (Vice Staff).
